And for the Kindle. (Yes, sorry, everyone hates Amazon, but Kindle users really love their Kindles.)
So, I’d like to thank Libby Cone for the pointer to how easy it is to put a book on Kindle. Her book, Flesh and Grass got a good review at J LHLS. Just FYI, y’all.

“Dr. Hackenbush Gets a Job” in the ePub format for Sony Readers and the Barnes and Noble Nook at Web-Books.com.
Still working on the Kindle thing.
Update: iMaxi – The Apple iPad Case with Protective Wings, is way too funny, but looks effective.

“But, if you’re reading this, you know that Dr. Hackenbush Gets a Job has finally been published, and there are many people to thank for that. The endlessly patient Jane Seaton, who’s read and edited my work from the very beginning while offering nothing but good advice and encouragement. Laurel Sutton, who’s read, edited, and was the wind beneath my wings in the agent hunt. Lynn Loper, the strictest, most patient proofreader in the world. More recently, thank you to Robin Austin for the beautiful Hackenbush.org website and the cover of this book, and Kris Anderson, Molly Kiley, and Kathryn L. Ramage for three (count ‘em, three) more proofreads before publication. And last but certainly not least, Bill Reiss, my wonderful agent, who liked this novel enough to inspire me not to give up on getting it published somewhere, someday, which is here and now. Thank you, everyone, this book would not have seen the light of day without you all.”
From the preface
And I mean that, all of it.

I blame MobyLives and the White House, because if it’s good enough for the Obama Administration, it’s good enough for Hackenbush. Or something.
“Well, good news for all you e-book totin’ policy wonks out there. According to Ars Technica, “Those cries have now been heard, as the White House on Friday put up the new Economic Report of the President in three formats: PDF, Amazon Kindle, and an ePub file designed for readers like Barnes & Noble’s Nook and Sony’s Reader. The move is part of the ‘White House’s commitment to make government more accessible,’ said White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer.”
White House gets onboard the e-reader train, Moby Lives, February 16, 2010
So, now I must ask you, readers, all three of you: do y’all know anything about this ePub converter? These Web-Books people sound like wonderful folks, but I’d like to know more about them and this converter before I stick my Hackenbush in it.
Next up: the dreaded Kindlefication.

click for a larger version (being able to read the back cover is totally worth it)
The book won’t be available from the Wapshott Press until March, but just because it’s the Year of the Tiger (grrrrrwow!), here’s a pdf version. Enjoy!
(Oh? It’s also Valentine’s Day? Hm. Oh well.)

An apology to the person following Hackenbush on Twitter. I’m not sure why there were all the double posts, but there were.

I’m glad this book isn’t launching until March. I’ll need that long to figure out the Twitter feeds.
